Monday - Jan. 10

Hello! Today we are going to start finishing up the biome posters that the kids were working on while I was gone. There is just one part left - symbiotic relationships. I went over the types using a Power Point presentation with the kids, so we could discuss what each type meant. I was hoping to cut down on research time, as well. We only have this week to complete these posters. Here are the four terms we looked at:

predator/prey - the organism that gets eaten is called the prey. The organism that eats the
prey is called the predator.

mutualism - a symbiotic relationship in which both organisms benefit.

commensalism - a symbiotic relationship in which one organism benefits and the other is
unaffected.

parasitism - a symbiotic relationship in which one organism benefits while the other is harmed.

The students picked one of these relationships and looked up an example from their biome. They will be drawing that example on their poster. Hopefully, the weather will hold out and we can get these finished by Thursday.

We are going to be starting up the vocabulary next week. We will be starting with number 16. It has been several weeks since we looked at that list. There are 32 terms altogether. Don't forget that the list is on this blog, in case your child has lost it. If you need anything, please ask me.
